As you might know already I love natural skincare. In the Netherlands we have Cosmania, they sell a lovely range of (natural) skincare products. Marije the co-owner from Cosmania introduced me to this beautiful brand First Aid Beauty, a beauty award winning brand known for its allergy tested and fragrance free skincare products.
The product that I am going to review today is the First Aid Purifying Mask (€32/90gr).
Skin Rescue Purifying Mask with Red Clay is a peel off mask that delivers immediately visible results akin to a professional treatment. In just 20 minutes, the mask, with its potent concentration of Red Clay, detoxifies and deeply purifies the complexion by drawing out skin impurities, regulating excess sebum and eliminating clogged pores.
If you have oily/combination or acne prone skin like I do this is a good pick. This red clay mask is made to cleanse the skin of impurities. This non irritating mask is packed with a mineral rich red clay. Red clay is known for reducing congestive pigmentation in problem areas, it also detoxifies the skin and removes impurities. The mask comes out as a red gel and is considered a peel off mask. I need to say that I was not very impressed after my first use but I did love the fact that it was able to remove the dead skin cells and the dirt from my skin. Since I wanted it to work I kept trying it out and now I just love it and I cannot get enough of it. I even brought it with me when I travelled to Stockholm a few weeks ago.
I use it once a week (always on saturday or sunday) when I have enough time to let it dry because it is recommended to leave on for 20 minutes then peel it off. I love the fact that it dries easily and does not hurt much like some peel off masks do. Just remember that you need to watch your hair! After its peeled off my skin feels very soft, refined and not dry at all. I did not break out either. The directions say to apply a thin layer but that did not work for me. When I applied a thin layer the mask did not come off easy at all. (Offcourse it is always possible to remove it with warm water). Peeling the mask away gives me that fresh skin feeling that I love so much. Today I applied a thicker layer and the mask peeled off perfectly, it might not come off in one piece but it did not took me a long time to remove it either. This is why I would recommend you to apply a thick layer instead of the recommended “thin layer” but you must always try it out yourself to see what works best for you.
Overall I do recommend this mask for all skintypes – even the sensitive ones, and especially for you with oily/combination skin. The First Aid Beauty Purifying Mask is available at Cosmania – online and instore.
