Today I want to share with you my cleansing routine including my favourite cleansers du moment. Spring is the perfect moment to try some new products and so I did.
Since I want all my makeup to come off I use two different cleansing products to remove my make-up. Step 1: I apply a little bit of the Melvita Rose Nectar Micellar Water on a cotton pad to remove dirt, sweat, bacteria and make-up from my face, eyes and neck. I need to moist several cotton pads with the micellar water (both sides!) to remove the biggest part. Please remember that micellar water will never remove all the dirt and makeup from your skin. I need three – sometimes four cottonpads to remove 70 percent of the make-up. Here you can read my thoughts about cleansing wipes. This is exact the same way I think about micellar water. It comes very handy but in my opinion not suitable enough to use as my only cleanse. As the first step in your cleansing routine to remove makeup? Yes! But never as a replacement for your regular cleanser. Why Melvita? Because it is a 3-in 1 formula which removes make-up, cleanses and tones without harsh chemicals. My skin feels very soft afterwards. The downside? Just the fact that it is not able to remove every trace of dirt and make-up from my skin, but I love it as a part of my cleansing routine. Step 2: To be sure that I get rid of anything else that I might have missed during my micellar water cleanse I follow up with an oil based cleanser. My favourites are: Aurelia Miracle Cleanser, Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm, Caudalie Make-up Removing Cleansing Oil and Verso Foaming Cleanser. These gentle balms and foam will remove the last traces of my make-up without stripping off natural oils. They smell divine! And these cleansers contain some amazing ingredients too. If I want to unclog pores and lift some heavy make-up- in the evening, I use the Foreo Luna Mini in combination with my cleanser. The Foreo Luna Mini is very gentle and it comes very handy when using only my hands is not enough. If I don’t feel like using my Foreo for some reason I choose to use a muslin cloth. I love the Aurelia Bamboo Muslin Cloths and the Emma Hardie Amazing Face Dual Action Professional Cleansing Cloths . Muslin Cloths are antibacterial and very good for taking of make-up. Step 3: Once my makeup is all off I follow up with Paula’s Choice Clear Anti- Redness Exfoliating Solution. Since a year ago I struggle with a few pimples on my left cheek and I would do anything to get rid of them! I have been using this for two weeks and I like it so far. This exfoliator minimizes my blackheads, keeps those horrible pimples far away and unclogges my pores. I do apply it with a cotton pad but you can also pour a little bit of the exfoliator into the palms of your hands and splash it onto your face. A cotton pad will soak up to much product, such a waste. I would recommend this product to everyone because it is very effective, non – sticky and non- drying.
In the mornings I just quickly wash my face with a mild non stripping cleanser and preferably not oil based -like the Verso Foaming Cleanser, to remove my night cream, retinol and/or faceoil that I applied the evening before. Since my skin is combination sometimes oily I want my make-up applyed on a clean and non oily canvas. If you want to use an oil based cleanser during the day I would recommend you to follow up with a facial toner for oily and blemish prone skin to make sure that everyting is clean and matte.
I hope you enjoyed my routine and that I inspired you with some new ideas.
