Here we go again! I am a big sucker for Tom Ford. This time I had my eyes on the Tom Ford Traceless Foundation Stick (€75/15 gr). Fifteen grams of product in a very luxurious looking and quite heavy twist up packaging with the signature gold TF stamp. The coverage is medium to full but it is very builadable. I prefer a sheer to medium coverage but others might want the full coverage look. Isn’t it fantastic that this foundation is very builadable and suitable for different people and preferences? This is also the only foundation that can be applied on the under eye area without looking cakey. Tom Ford is absolutely a genious isn’t he? I mean you get a concealer and a foundation in one that will also last for a very long time if you use it correctly.
The Tom Ford Traceless Foundation Stick is available in twelve shades. I love the fact that Tom Ford makes foundations for darker skintones too because since I consider myself a Tom Ford hoarder I want to be able to trial/buy the foundations too. I hope that there will be a BB cream someday because I did not like the Traceless Foundation (liquid). It looked very greasy on my skin and it made me look older, but now back to the Traceless Foundation Stick.
The Tom Ford Traceless Foundation Stick is my first foundation stick and I love it.This founfation is glowy but not greasy and it sets slightly matte. This foundation it is super blendable and it has a good staying power. I don’t have to worry anymore if I can take my foundation with me on the plane because a stick is travel friendly. The coverage is perfect, this covers all my blemishes just with one swipe. I was matched with #11 warm almond at the counter, a brown shade with warm yellow undertones. The shade runs a little bit dark but I can work with it. The foundation might feel and look thicker than other foundations but I feel very comfortable wearing it since it doesn’t feel cakey or heavy on my skin.
The price (75€) is not cheap! Tom Ford is very expensive. In my opinion Tom Ford beauty products are amazing but the price is not so amazing. I have decided to purchase the stick because my Laura Mercier foundation and concealer were finished. At first I had the intention to buy a Tom Ford concealer but since the stick is considered a concealer and a foundation in one I tought it might be a good idea to invest in the stick and save my €25. Another con is the hygiëne factor. Oils, bacteria and germs are able to transfer from the sponge, brush or hands to the make-up, this can cause acne or irritatation. To avoid this I would recommend you to buy isopropyl alcohol and a spray bottle to kill the germs on the foundation stick. Also make sure to clean your brushes and sponges a few times a week to avoid transfers. I know that it is a hell of a job but its your skin we are talking about.
This foundation is very creamy and more suitable for normal or dry skins but if you have combination skin it will work for you too. My skin is combination (t-zone) and it works perfectly for me. I swipe the stick on my face (only on the on the area’s where I have blemishes) and blend the foundation into the skin with the beautyblender for a flawless complection. If your skin tends to get oily very fast then I would recommend a primer underneath your foundation. You can also pick up the product with your beautyblender and dabb it into your skin. Offcourse a flat kabuki brush will work too for a perfect application. Set it with a good translucent powder and you are good to go!
Overall I like this foundation stick despite the hefty price tag but I am not sure if I will repurchase since I prefer sheer to medium coverage and a less creamy foundation for the summer months.
