I have finally found the perfect sophisticated (daily wear) nude lipstick, a nice soft rose nude with a brown undertone. I am raving about this YSL Rouge Pur Couture #66 ‘Rosewood’/’Boise De Rose’ (34,95) . I nearly gave up my search for a good nude Iipcolor because it is so difficult to find. If it wasn’t for the lovely shop assistant I wouldn’t own this one today because I didn’t know this colour existed. I tried some nude shades in the past but I wasn’t really impressed. A good nude lipcolor is very difficult to find and even more when you have a dark skintone. My lips are quite pigmented so a pale or beige nude won’t work for me. The wrong shade can make me look sick or washed out. I don’t want a lipcolor to have that effect on me. That is really not the look I want (I guess none of you want a look like that).
As you could read in several of my blogpost I love the makeup no makeup look. This look will not be complete without a nude shade on my lips. I adore my Tom Ford Rose Crush lipgloss (the most beautiful nude I know ) but I was still in need of a good lipcolor to complete the look. I would like to add more nudes to my lipstick collection, but untill then, I will be enjoying this shade.
YSL Rouge pur Couture is a smooth and creamy with a good colour pay off, I can wear it during the day at work and during the evening paired with a nice smokey eye. I love to wear it with a gloss on top and I don’t even need a lipliner. Sadly enough the staying power is average. I need to reapply regulary, that is a big downside for me. I don’t expect it to survive a five course meal or several cups of tea but the staying power could be better.
I love the packaging but it attracts fingerprints and it scratched very easily. The perfume scent could be a downside for some of you but I don’t have a problem with the scent and the taste. Other than the staying power and the scratch and fingerprints prone packaging I don’t see any downsides. For me it is a wonderfull shade and I will continue using it and probably will repurchase.
