Bringing on concealer is a very important step in my make-up regime. Daytime or evening it doesn’t matter because I always wear concealer under my eyes. I have a dark skintone and too bad for me I do suffer from some dark undereye circles. A good concealer can make you look fresher, more awake and flawless. I have tried more concealers than foundations/bb creams since I consider a good concealer way more difficult to find. There are so many for sale but what is your perfect match? Is it to oily? To dark? Does it fade away within the speed of light? Or does it cake up too much? Today I am giving you a short review on five concealers that I like (Laura Mercier is not pictured)

Laura Mercier Secret Concealer

This concealer was recommended by Amanda Rijff (master make-up artist) she is known for her flawless make-up and she doesn’t believe in the Kim Kardashian racoon under eye look (sorry Kim). She believes that concealer must be able to even your skintone but it doesn’t need to look too light. She recommended me the ‘nr 5’ shade and I loved the color match. I bought this shade when it was very warm in the Netherlands and I came to the conclusion that this works better for me when the weather becomes colder . The Secret Concealer (€27) is very creamy and it tends to sit into my fine lines. I love the fact that I can use this as a full face concealer because of the perfect color match but I hate that it turns so greasy on me. To avoid the caking effect you can put a little bit of the Secret Brightening Powder on top of it and dust it onto your skin.  This loose powder is very light and will give the under eye area a visible lightening boost. Don’t use too much because it can cake up. The pot is empty now but I have decided that I will repurchase this one because I love the shade and I will need a creamy concealer during the winter months. The coverage is medium, it did not hide all my dark circles but I still like it. I choose to apply it under my eyes with my non – dominant ring finger and pat it in till the under eye area is covered.

Dior Skin Star Concealer

I am very happy that this concealer (€ 33,95)  is also available for dark skinned lady’s. I bought shade nr 004 and I think it suits a nc 45/nc 50 very good. The Star Concealer is available in five shades but the fifth shade is not available in the Netherlands. I would not consider this ‘full coverage’ and I would not recommend it to people with a lot of pigmentation because it will not cover it up completely. I still need to use a corrector underneath if I want maximum coverage. The concealer dries matte and looks pretty invisible and thats a good thing because I love the make-up no make-up look.  The Dior Star Concealer  is also made with some amazing light reflecting ingredients to neutralize dark circles. I prefer not to dust it off with powder because it looks good enough on its own (don’t fix it if it is not broken).

NARS Concealer Stick in Amande

Great concealer ($ 25) still not available in The Netherlands. I bought mine at Sephora in Spain and I am very happy with my purchase . This concealer is one of the best I ever tried and believe me I have tried plenty! It doesn’t crease, the color match is perfect, it is creamy but not greasy and I love the fact that it is so compact. The coverage is medium, some might consider it full coverage but I would call it medium. I like the Nars concealer very much because it gives the right amount of coverage without caking up and it goes on easily. I still have the Nars Creamy concealer on my wishlist and I will make a comparison post when I have tried them both.

YSL Touche Eclat

I don’t consider this must have product as a concealer but I always put it on top of my concealer to neutralize and even out my under eye area and it gives an instant highlight to my under eye area. You can use it as a undereye brightner or as a highlighter (center of the nose, above the eyebrows, underneath the eyebrows and on the  cheekbones). For me it doesn’t work as a concealer because it is to sheer but I love it as brightner. You can pat it on with a foundation brush or with your fingers.

Bobbi Brown Corrector

I did a review about this corrector a few weeks ago. Since I have discovered the Bobbi Brown Corrector in ‘Deep Peach’(€28) my dark circles are temporarily gone. This corrector is made for anyone who has very dark under eye circles or who wants extra coverage.I blend it with my fingers and follow up layering my concealer over my corrector. It neutralize the dark brown discoloration under my eyes and make it look more even. read all about it here
