Is orange the new red? I love orange lipstick. Orange gives life to my face, it brightens up my day and it gives me that holiday feeling. But how do you pull it off? I want to share with you how I rock orange lips.
When I decide to rock the color orange on my lips I want the most flawless face ever and that always starts with a good concealer. Since I suffer from dark under eye circles I Always start my routine with a corrector before applying concealer. My favourite corrector is the Bobbi Brown Intensive Serum Corrector in ‘Deep Bisque’. The price is killing (€44) so why would I still recommend this corrector? The serum corrector is able to boost skin’s moisture level for a more refreshed look and it covers my dark undereye circles very very well without setting into my fine lines. As you might know I love the make-up no make-up look and the serum corrector makes it very easy to build up coverage without looking cakey. Yes I want to cover my dark undereye circles but I still want to look natural. This corrector lasts forever in the tube and also on my face, and it is nice to know that it has some great ingredients. After applying corrector with the sponge tip wand applicator I follow up with the NARS Creamy concealer in ‘Amande’. This concealer is a-ma-zing! yes it is thick and creamy but not in a bad way. It covers up very good but without looking cakey. I have tried so many concealers in my life but most of them turn so ashy after a few hours of wear, the NARS Creamy Concealer (€28) brightens and evens out my skintone without the Kim Kardashian effect (reversed racoon eyes). It blends very well with my corrector and I consider it very longlasting. Please keep in mind that there is no need to apply lots of concealer to achieve a maximum effect. I prefer to apply the corrector with my fingers since it is a serum. After applying the corrector I let it dry a minute or two before I follow up with concealer. I love to blend concealer out with a beautyblender for a seamless coverage but if you prefer more coverage I would recommend a concealer brush instead . Remember that orange lips grab attention so keep it eventoned but don;t over do it under the eyes.
Long black lashes are every womans dream I might not have super long lashes but I have enough and in combination with the perfect mascara they look great. At this moment I am trying out the Chanel LeVolume Mascara in ‘Noir’. Everyone seems to rave about this mascara but I am not so sure about it yet. Yes the black color is intense and yes it gives an eye opening effect with a single swipe but it also smudges and get on my upperlid so I would not call it the perfect mascara. I think that Le Volume is just too wet for my liking. Now that the mascara has dried up and has a better consitency it does a better job but I am still a little bit dissapointed. The brush is nice but not spectacular. I will finish this one up but I will not repurchase.
Ok, the mascara was not worth my money but the Chanel Jous Contraste Blush (€ 41) in ‘Reflex’ is worth every penny! Reflex is such a beautiful and shimmery golden/ rosé peach shade which I consider perfect to combine with orange lipstick. Reflex has gold shimmers but subtile, this blush doesn’t scream glitter. Reflex is baked, that means that the texture is creamier and mostly shimmery compared to regular powder brushes. I don’t use Reflex as a blush but as a highlighter because I think that it is a great highlighter if you want a natural look. When combined with my Dolce & Gabbana blush in ‘Sole’ it gives me that summer glow especially when the sun is MIA. I have a dark skintone and Reflex really flatters dark skintones. I would also recommend reflex to my readers with a tan or olive skintone because it will look amazing on you and will give you that fresh and natural look that we all love.
My favourite orange is Wild Ginger from Tom Ford. Here you can read my review about this amazing orange. Keep in mind that orange will make your skin glow, it gives life to every skintone and it will draw all the attention to your lips. When you have a darker skintone please avoud pastel – like oranges because they can dull deeper skintones due to the white pigments just remember the brighter the better!
Always pair your orange lips with a nice bronzer I love the Laura Mercier Baked Powder Bronzer in ‘Bronze’ (€38). It is very smooth and it looks shimmery in the pan but don’t let it fool you. I do recommend you to use it only along the temple, hairline and in the hollows of your cheeks. This bronzer is also made for contouring and I love to apply it after my blush for blending purposes. The bronzer applies smoothly and it really gives me that healthy glow which I like alot. Since I have combination to oily skin I prefer to apply it with a big bronzer blush for sheer coverage
