I started with prescription Retin A when I turned twentysix. I guess that you can tell that I Always take good care of my skin. I would call it a healthy obsession. I don’t feel embarrased to call it an obsession (positive) It is very important to keep in mind that your innerself and health are the most important but that doesn’t mean that one can not invest in the best version of themselves.

Verso Skincare caught my eye because I know the importance of Retinol/Vitamin A in skincare. Vitamin A acid is the only product that is able to reduce wrinkles (scientifically proven) and also helps to re-texturize the skin. Retinol is derived from vitamin A acid and I would call it one of the most wanted ingredients because of the possitive effects on the skin.

I was very happy to receive the Verso Travel Series (€50). The set contains:

  • Verso Foaming Cleanser 25 ml
  • Verso Day Cream SPF 15
  • Verso Night Cream

Verso Foaming Cleanser – full size € 32/90ml

The name scared the hell out of me because I try to avoid foaming cleansers as much as I can. Foam cleansers can strip the skin from its natural oils and according to beauty expert Caroline Hirons you need to use a surfactant to get foam – and a surfactant turns the skin alkaline.

Alkaline skin is like a petri dish for bacteria. The irony being that so many cleansers pushed on to acne/combination skins are foaming. Naughty companies should know better.

This cleanser has a cream gel texture and I haven’t noticed any foaming. The cleanser is made without Sulfate compounds (the surfactant). My skin feels soft and clean. Instead of the signature Retinol 8 Complex they added the following ingredients:

  • Butyrospermum Parkii Oil : Shea butter
  • Carica Papaya Fruit Extract : Papaya enzyme
  • Mangufera Indica Fruit Extract : Mango enzyme
  • Tocopheryl Acetate: Vitamine E

Fruit acids are known for giving a gentle peeling. I like the cleanser and I will repurchase. I don’t know if this is the best cleanser for removing make-up but it does a good job as a second or morning cleanser.

Verso Day Cream SPF 15 – full size € 110/50ml

Yellow, lightweighted and perfect for my combination skin. I was in Stockholm when I trialed this cream and it was 26 degrees (it was really hot) normally my face turns into an oil slick but this cream kept my make-up very good and protected-thanks to the SPF 15. It has some great key ingredient and it is also formulated with the Retinol 8. Normally it is not possible to use Vitamin A during the day because it is UV sensitive. Retinol 8 is stable and sensitive to the skin, it is also minimally affected by oxygen and UV radiation. (concentration 0,06 – active Vitamin A)

Key ingredients:

  • Retinol 8: Vitamine A derivative
  • Niacinamide: Vitamine B3
  • Tetrahydrodiferuloylmethane : Purified colourless tumeric extract
  • Curcuma Longa Root Extraxt: Tumeric extract, antioxidant
  • Tetrahydropiperine: Pepper extract
  • Sodium Hyaluronate: Hyaluronic acid.

This cream has some awesome ingredients. The best way to antiage is by using an SPF and Vitamine A acid. This cream carries both. I prefer spf 30 because I have dark spots and I want to prevent them to become darker. I think that I would combine this with a seperate SPF. It sits very well under make-up. Highly recommended!

Verso Day Cream

Verso Night Cream – full size € 110/ 50ml

Prescriptive Vitamin A acid is sensitive to UV radiation and it can be very harsh for the skin (redness, peeling). Verso Skincare made it possible for everyone to incorporate Retinol to their skincare regime without damaging the skin. I always wakeup with clearer skin and my skin feels very soft after applying.  The product sinks in immediately and it doesn’t peel the skin of my face.  (Concentration 0,06 – active Vitamin A )

Key ingredients:

  • Retinol 8: Vitamine A derivative
  • Etrahydrodiferuloylmethane: Purified colourless tumeric extract
  • Curcuma Longa Root Extract: Turmeric extract, antioxidant
  • Tetrahydropiperine: Pepper extract
  • Sodium Hyaluronate: Hyaluronic acid
  • Hydroxyphenyl Propamidobenzoic Acid : Oat extract
  • Ascorbyl Palmitate: Vitamine C

Verso Night Cream

I am not done trialing yet, if I change my opinion I will update it on the blog!

The products are packaged in a aluminium sealable bag perfect for travelling. I was told that this set wil last for a month. If you don’t know if Verso Skincare is a brand for you I would recommend you to try this set out. Verso Skincare is available at Skins Cosmetics (in the Netherlands).
